What is the Sales Tax Data Report?

The Sales Tax Data Report helps you keep track of which menu items are taxed and which are not. It also shows what sales category each item belongs to, making it easier to report taxes correctly.


For more details on your total sales tax owed, check out the Sales Tax Report This report will show the total sales tax collected for a specific date range, helping you with tax filing.


How to Find the Report:

    1. Navigate to the Accounting Tab.

    2. Click on the Sales Tax Data Report link.


    3. View Your Data: The report will show all menu items, their tax status, and what sales category they fall under.


    4. Sort the Report: If you wish, you can click on the Name, Taxation, or Sales Category columns to organize the report however you need.


What the Report Tells You

  • Menu Item Name – Shows all the food and beverage items on your menu.
  • Tax Status:
    • Taxable – Sales tax applies.
    • Tax-Exempt – No tax is charged.
    • Unassigned – Needs tax settings updated.
  • Sales Category – Groups items into categories like Food Sales, Beverage Sales, Labor or Unassigned. You can update these settings in Admin > Sales Tax Settings


Helpful Tips

Check Your Report Regularly – Make sure all your menu items have the right tax settings.


Fix Unassigned Items – If anything says "Unassigned," update it to avoid tax mistakes. Click on Sales Tax Categories to learn how.

 
Download for Records – Use the Export to Excel option to save a copy for bookkeeping.
