Overview

The Sales by Event Type Report provides a detailed summary of your sales activity categorized by event type. This report helps you analyze which types of events—such as Weddings, Corporate Lunches, or Holiday Parties—generate the most revenue, so you can identify trends and adjust your marketing or staffing strategy accordingly. Use this report to understand your catering mix, evaluate profitability across event categories, and forecast future sales opportunities.

Accessing the Report

  • Go to the More tab in your CaterZen account.

  • Select Reports → Sales Reports.


  • Click Sales by Event Type Report.

  • Choose your Filter Parameters (see below).

  • Click Generate Report.


Filter Parameters

Use these filters to customize your report results:

  • Date Range – Select the time period you’d like to review.

  • Location – Choose one or multiple store locations.

Exporting or Sharing

  • The report automatically downloads as an Excel file when generated.

  • You can also email the report directly to yourself or another team member.

Understanding the Report

The exported Excel file provides a breakdown of total sales by each event type, including:

  • Event Type Name

  • Sales by Location

  • All Locations Total

This allows you to quickly see which event types generate the most revenue or represent the highest share of your business.


Common Use Cases

  • Sales Analysis: Identify which event types (e.g., Corporate Lunches, Weddings) generate the most consistent revenue.

  • Marketing Insights: Use the data to target underperforming event types with special promotions.

  • Forecasting: Predict future demand by reviewing seasonal or annual trends in event-type sales.

Best Practices

  • Run this report monthly or quarterly to monitor trends in event-type sales.

  • Combine it with the Order Totals Report to compare total revenue by order type and event type.

  • Filter by Location to identify regional or store-specific performance differences.

  • Use the report to guide your marketing efforts toward high-performing event categories.
