Overview
The Sales Commission Report provides a detailed summary of sales, payments, and tips across all orders within a selected date range. This report is commonly used for calculating commissions or tip payouts for catering managers, sales reps, or delivery staff. It includes both order dates and payment dates, allowing you to accurately match when an event occurred versus when it was paid — a critical step when determining who should be paid for completed and collected orders.
Accessing the Report
Go to the More tab in your CaterZen account.

The report automatically downloads as an Excel file when generated.
You can also email the report directly to yourself or another team member.
Once exported, open it in Excel or Google Sheets to filter, total, and calculate payout amounts for tips or commissions.

Understanding the Report
The exported report contains multiple sets of columns that represent different stages of an order’s financial activity — when it was sold, when it was paid, and if any changes were made later.
Here’s how to read it:
Columns E–H show the Sales Data — representing when the event took place.
This section includes the order totals, tax, and tips at the time the order was originally created and scheduled.Columns J–M show the Collection Data — representing when payment was actually received.
These columns reflect what was collected during your selected date range, even if the order occurred in a prior month.Columns P–R represent Changes from Previous Revisions — capturing any edits made to an order after it was first finalized, such as added tips, adjustments, or corrections.
These columns allow you to identify when a tip or payment amount was updated after the initial sale or collection date.
This breakdown helps ensure accuracy when reconciling commissions and tips. You can clearly see which orders were fulfilled, which were paid, and whether any adjustments affected payout totals.
| Scenario | How It Appears |
|---|---|
| The order and payment both occurred within your report range | Values appear in both the Sales (E–H) and Collected (J–M) sections. |
| The event occurred earlier but payment was received during this report range | Sales (E–H) will be blank, and data will appear only in the Collected (J–M) section. |
| The payment was received before the event date | Sales (E–H) will be blank, and data will appear only in the Collected (J–M) section, since the collection date falls before this report’s range. |

How to Use This Report for Paying Commissions or Tips
When calculating payouts for a given month:
Pull the report for the date range you are paying commissions or tips for (e.g., October 1–31).
This report will include:
All orders that took place during that date range.
All orders from earlier months that were paid during that date range.
So:
If an event happened in the past but was paid during the current month, you’ll can pay out that tip or commission now.
If an event happened and was paid during the same month, you’ll also pay it out now.
Even if a tip appears in multiple columns (F, K, or Q), you’re still paying out only one tip per order — never duplicates.
This would ensure you’re paying commissions or tips only on paid events, not unpaid future orders.
Tip Columns Notes
Tips may appear in one, two, or even three columns — depending on when they were added to the order. Regardless of where the tip appears, you’ll only pay it out once per order.
Common Use Cases
Tip Payouts: Use this report to calculate staff tips on paid orders only.
Commission Calculations: Filter by sales rep or catering manager to determine commissions earned during a specific period.
Payroll Reporting: Export the data and share it with your payroll provider for accurate monthly distributions.
Best Practices
Always base payouts on the date the payment was collected, not just when the event occurred.
Review the report carefully before processing commissions or tips to avoid duplicate payments.
Save each month’s export for historical tracking and payroll audits.
