Overview

The Sales by SIC Code Report provides a breakdown of your total sales by industry classification, based on the SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) code assigned to each company in your CRM. This report helps you identify which industries generate the most catering revenue and where to focus your marketing and sales efforts. Use this report to evaluate performance across customer segments, target high-performing industries, and uncover growth opportunities within your existing client base.

Accessing the Report

  • Go to the More tab in your CaterZen account.

  • Select Reports → Sales Reports.


  • Click Sales by SIC Code Report.

  • Choose your Filter Parameters (see below).

  • Click Generate Report.


Filter Parameters

Use these filters to control which sales data appears in your report:

  • Date Range – Select the time period you want to analyze (for example, Last Quarter or Year-to-Date).

  • Location – Choose one or multiple locations to include.

Exporting or Sharing

  • The report automatically downloads as an Excel file when generated.

  • You can also email the report directly to yourself or another team member.


Understanding the Report

The exported Excel file provides sales data organized by SIC Code and Industry Name, including:

  • SIC Code

  • Total Sales

Each row represents one SIC category, allowing you to see which industries contribute most to your catering business.


Common Use Cases

  • Market Segmentation: Identify which industries (e.g., Education, Healthcare, Corporate Offices) generate the most revenue.

  • Targeted Outreach: Use results to build marketing campaigns for high-performing industries.

  • Sales Strategy: Focus your sales reps’ efforts on industries with proven catering demand.

  • Trend Tracking: Compare performance by industry over multiple time periods to spot growth opportunities.

  • Run this report quarterly to track how your top industries are performing.

  • Combine it with the Companies by Sales Rep Report to see which reps are driving industry-specific success.

  • Use SIC data to refine your CRM segmentation and target specific industries in email campaigns.
