Overview
The Kitchen Production Report shows a full breakdown of every menu item, choice, modifier, and prep formula needed for all orders in a selected date range. This version gives your team the complete picture of what was ordered, how it was customized, and how it translates into production.
You can run this report in two ways:
- For one individual order using Print All Reports inside the order
- For a full date range when prepping for a day or pulling larger windows for ordering and forecasting
Kitchen Production vs. V2 Kitchen Production Reports
CaterZen has two versions of the Kitchen Production Report. The Legacy version shows the full menu structure, including choices and modifiers. The V2 version provides a simplified, color-coded prep list that shows only the final prep items and can be run as a totals-only list.
Use the Legacy Kitchen Production Report when you need the detailed breakdown of the menu items the Customer actually ordered plus the prep ingredients.
Use V2 Kitchen Production Report when your kitchen only needs the final prep amounts without the menu items.
Single-Order Production Reports
If you only need the prep information for one specific order, use the Order Production Report. It can be accessed from the ticket’s Choose a Function dropdown or by using Print All Reports in the Overview tab.
Accessing the Report
- Go to More
- Select Reports
- Click Kitchen & Production Reports

- Choose Kitchen Production Report on the left.

Filter Parameters
Use the options on the report screen to customize your output:
A. Date Range
Choose the dates you want to include.
Use a single day for daily prep
Use multiple days for ordering or high-volume prep periods
B. Show Inventory Items
Check this if you want inventory items included. Inventory items must already be set up.
C. Hide Individual Orders (Show Totals Only)
Check this to hide individual orders and show a single combined total for the selected date range.
D. Hide Total Line for Individual Orders
Check this if you do not want totals displayed for each individual order. Totals for all orders in the date range will still appear.
E. Hide Modifier List on Menu Item Lines
Check this if you do not want modifier or dropdown choices to display.
F. Hide Orders With No Items in a Station
Check this to prevent menu items without an assigned station from appearing on the report.
G. Highlight Kitchen Ready Time
Check this if you want the kitchen ready time highlighted in yellow.
H. Sort By
Choose how items are sorted. Serve Time is the default, with options such as Kitchen Ready Time or Driver Pickup Time.
I. Station Filter
View all stations or limit the report to a single station.
J. Location
Choose one location or view all locations, if applicable.
K. Output Format
Choose HTML, Excel, PDF, or Excel-formatted only.
Click Generate Report once your selections are complete.
Understanding the Report
Order Details:
- Customer name
- Company name
- Total persons
- Order type
- Serve time and kitchen ready time
Menu Item Breakdown:
- Menu items
- Modifier selections (if unchecked)
- Formula quantities
- Prep items grouped by station
- Additional formulas used
Menu item counts are shown in bold for quick scanning.
Totals
At the bottom of the report:
- Total for all Menu Items: All Prep Items for all orders (in red)
- Total for all Items: All Prep Item PLUS Open Menu Items for all orders (in green)
These totals help teams estimate purchasing and production needs.

Exporting or Sharing
At the top of the page, you can:
Print, Download, or View in Excel for further review.
Email the Report to yourself or another team member.
Modify report criteria

Best Practices
- Use this report when your prep team needs to see the full structure of the order.
- Do not hide modifiers if your menu relies on detailed options like toppings, sauces, or sizes.
- For purchasing, run the report for multi-day ranges to capture full prep requirements.
- Use station filters to help each prep area work from its own section.
